As we shared previously, Shoreline schools must make up days this year due to inclement weather closures this winter.
We now have the final decision from the WA State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and agreement with our labor partners that the school year make-up days will be as follows:
- Monday, June 2 - make-up day, early release (previously communicated to be a full school day)
- Thursday, June 12 - will now be a full school day
- Friday, June 13 - make up day, full day
- Monday, June 16 - make up day, half day + 10 minutes*
*To meet state requirements for the total instructional time of a school year, we must add 10 minutes to the last day of the school year, June 16. The half-day end times for schools will be:
- Shorecrest and Shorewood: 11:00 am
- Einstein and Kellogg: 11:35 am
- Briarcrest, Brookside, Parkwood, Ridgecrest: 11:40 am
- Echo Lake, Highland Terrace, Lake Forest Park, Meridian Park, Syre, and Cascade K-8: 12:05 pm
While our waiver request to avoid holding school on June 16 was not granted by the state, we are grateful to our valued labor partners for their teamwork, creative partnership, and flexibility throughout this work, keeping student and community needs at the forefront of our collaborative efforts.
